If you havn't heard of Ron Clark, go and buy this book, The Essential 55. I ran across it over the summer. His rules speak of love, respect, and discipline in the classroom. These are rules that can take place as parents, caregivers, and even student-teachers. There is also a movie about his incredible, warm-hearted teaching experience called the Ron Clark Story. I bought the movie as well. It's a tear jerker, but very good....it really makes a person re-evaluate their life.

Hey Tara,
I saw The Ron Clark Story on tv a couple of years ago and I thought it was such an inspiring story. I've seen his book and thumbed through it a little - I definitely want to read the whole thing. It cracked me up when he was explaining the 'no doritos' rule - just to have a mysterious rule or something that's funny. Do you see yourself implementing rules like his in the classroom? I could see you doing really hands-on stuff like he does in the movie. Thanks for sharing this resource!
Hi Tara!
I love hearing about new books related to teaching! I really feel like I need some support to guide my teaching philosophies, and I think reading new books is a way to gain insight on this. What did Ron Clark do exactly? I am really curious of who he is to have written a book and have a movie about him out! These stories help me remember that we are out there changing these students' lives. I am glad they inspire you too!
I really loved this movie movie too! I had no idea that there was a book about Ron Clark. I think now I have to go out and buy it! Thanks for the recommendations. I think it'll be nice to read the book and then revisit the movie, since most of what I can remember about the movie is the feeling that I got when I was watching it. I just love finding new inspirations for teaching!
